The Busy Bees

Our Busy Bees needlework and knitting group was formed in 1984 with a few young mums willing to make items to sell at our Church Bazaars and coffee mornings. The money raised was to go towards paying off the debt on the then recently altered church building. Even since then our church has needed to find ways of raising money and so the group continues working together. When we first started one of the church Elders came along as a self-appointed tea lady and child minder as at the time we all had small children. Very soon we were joined by other church members and friends. We appealed for materials and had an amazing response, this has continued over the years the result of this is that we are able to sell items made at reasonable prices. Just a few of the things made are: draught excluders, peg bags, cushions, aprons, gloves and a large variety of novelties and toys.
We are always on the look out for new ideas things not too costly to make and some things not easily available in the shops. A lot of work is done at home but we do enjoy meeting on Wednesday afternoon at approximately 1-30pm until 3-30pm except during school holidays and at half term. The most important thing about the group is the feeling of friendship and the pleasure of working together for the benefit of our church. We would be glad to welcome anyone to come along and join with us.
